It's been 3 days since the inauguration of the new President and already the elite media are crying "foul". Seems that the "Old Gray Lady" (NY Times), CNN, Reuters and the AP are upset with the Obama administration over their unwillingness to allow their representatives to witness the second swearing-in, following the botched nationally televised event on Tuesday. I must say that I find this absolutely delicious and even ironic. Ironic in the fact that it was the major media that played a large part in the "selection" of Obama in the first place; with their unwillingness to vet the man. In fact, it can be argued that the major media elites came to Obama's defense, whenever questionable, if not radical, associations were mentioned. For instance, names like; William Ayers (Domestic Terrorist who bombed the Pentagon in 1972, the Capital in 1971 and NYC Police HQ in 1970), Jeremiah Wright (Obama's Pastor who said that September 11th was "America's chickens coming home to roost"), Tony Rezko (convicted of fraud and bribery in 2008), Rashid Kalidi (who once referred to Israel as an "apartheid system in creation" and a destructive "racist" state). Keep in mind that these are the associations that we know about. Are there others? Well, we don't know and likely never will because as FOX NEWS' Sean Hannity puts it; "2008 is the year journalism died".
I must give the elite media credit for one thing; they gave ample coverage to Sarah Palin's pregnant teenage daughter and the $150,000.00 price tag on her wardrobe and they managed to create the illusion that it was Sarah Palin who uttered the words "I can see Russia from my house", when in fact it was SNL's Tina Fey during one of her skits. Did I mention the inordinate amount of time they spent covering the homes that John McCain owned?
I can just imagine Anderson Cooper, at a CNN meeting, clamoring 'We carried the water for Obama and he still managed to kick us to the curb'.
Oh, I can't wait to see what tomorrow brings. Stay tuned.
